About Standard Standard...
The question was asked: What if we could write the all American standards of the 21st century. After all, who the hell did Hoagy Carmichael think he was? As told by Wikipedia, he thought he was a piano player, a singer, an actor and a bandleader. If he were alive today they might have added “midtown temp” or “waiter” to the list. He was just doing his thing. And in the process wrote some of the best songs ever written in the last hundred years.
Standard Standard is taking on the responsibility of reminding other artists how important it is to do their thing. To be honest. To entertain. To enjoy music. To write it down write whatever comes to mind, always record it, and continue to fine tune those pieces you continue to want to listen to.
Standard Standard, formed by Michael Egbert, Michael Kleba and Christopher Koch, will be (officially) on stage in the late fall 2010.
